Project Workshop: Redesign and Documentation of a Single-Family Home
Duration: 10 weeks  

Workshop Objectives
1. Develop architectural redesign skills for existing structures.  
2. Integrate functional and aesthetic elements (e.g., staircase, additional floor).  
3. Produce professional technical documentation (plans, sections, bills of quantities)

Weekly Breakdown

Week 1–2: Site Analysis and Conceptual Design**  
**Tasks**:  
- Survey the existing house (plans provided).  120-150 m2
  
- Propose ** a conceptual redesigns** (sketches + mood boards).  
**Deliverables**:  
- As-built drawings (1:50 scale).  
- A conceptual design proposals (A3 posters).  

Week 3–4: Design Development**  
**Focus**: Staircase integration and floor plan optimization.  
**Tasks**:  
- Finalize the **ground floor plan** with a staircase (interior/exterior).  
- Design the **upper floor plan** (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, flexible space).  

**Deliverables**:  
- Revised floor plans (1:50 scale).  

Week 5–6: Technical Documentation
Focus: Structural and technical plans.  
Tasks:  
- Draft **foundation plans** (footings, reinforcement details).  
- Develop **roof and terrace plans** (slopes, drainage).  
- Produce **cross-sections** (structural details, ceiling heights).  
**Deliverables**:  
- Foundation plan (1:50).  
- Roof/terrace plan (1:50).  
- 2 cross-sections (1:50).  

Week 7–8: Site Integration and Detailing
Focus: Contextual and environmental integration.  
Tasks:  
- Design a **site plan** (landscaping, access, parking).  
- Create a **location plan** (neighborhood context, North orientation).  
- Specify materials (eco-friendly options encouraged).  
**Deliverables**:  
- Site plan (1:200).  
- Location plan (1:5000).  
Week 9: Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Cost Estimation
Focus: Budgeting and resource management.  
Tasks:  
- Prepare a BOQ listing quantities (concrete, steel, finishes).  
- Estimate costs (materials, labor, contingencies).  
**Deliverables**:  
- BOQ table (Excel/PDF).  
- Cost summary report (1–2 pages).  

Week 10: Final Presentation and Critique**  
Focus: Professional communication.  
Tasks:  
- Compile all work into a portfolio 
- Present designs to a panel
**Deliverables**:  
- Final portfolio (A3 format ).  
- 10-minute presentation 

Evaluation Criteria
1. Design Quality  (30%): Creativity, functionality, compliance with brief.  
2.  Technical Accuracy (30%): Precision of plans, structural logic, code compliance.  
3. Documentation (25%): Clarity of BOQ, labeling, and annotations.  
4.  Presentation (15%): Professionalism, clarity, response to feedback.
