ü The Plant Biochemistry module aims to introduce students to the biochemical bases of plant functioning. It covers primary metabolism, essential for plant survival, with a particular focus on carbohydrates and lipids, as well as secondary metabolism, which is specific to plants and includes alkaloids, phenylpropanoids, and terpenes.
ü The module also addresses photosynthetic pigments (chlorophylls and carotenoids) and plant hormones involved in plant growth, development, and adaptation. It provides fundamental knowledge necessary for understanding plant physiology and biochemistry.
