      ·        Develop skills related to observation, objective reasoning, scientific curiosity, argumentation and openness to discussion.

    • In this chapter , learners will be introduced to basic terminology and fundamental concepts related to academic research. The chapter discusses how knowldge is aquired through the scientific method, what we mean by research and research methodology, what objectives and motives inspire the conduct of research,  how it is structured. 

    • Consult the web article provided to understand how knowledge is acquired and why we rely more on the scientific method when it comes to generating knowledge in science. 

    • This chapter focuses on formulating research problems in English studies. It defines the concept of a research problem and outlines the key considerations researchers should take into account when selecting one. Additionally, it provides guidelines for identifying sources of research problems in English studies.
