ESP Module Introduction: Mastering Marketing Principles for Arabic Speakers

Marhaban (مرحبا)! Welcome to the ESP (English for Specific Purposes) module focused on mastering marketing principles tailored for Arabic-speaking students. In this course, we will embark on a journey to delve into the intricacies of marketing, guided by two cornerstone texts carefully selected to enhance your understanding of the subject matter.

Our primary texts, "Introduction to Marketing Concepts by Graeme Drummond  and John Ensor,2005’’

" and a supplementary book addressing Islamic marketing issues, have been chosen with meticulous consideration. The first book, "Introduction to Marketing Concepts," serves as our foundational framework, offering a comprehensive exploration of essential marketing concepts and principles. By dissecting chapters such as "What is marketing?", "Marketing as a business philosophy," and "Creating customer value and satisfaction," we will establish a solid foundation upon which to build our knowledge.

Furthermore, by focusing on this text, we capitalize on the repetition of key terms and concepts, facilitating deeper understanding and retention. This approach is particularly advantageous for Arabic speakers, as it allows for familiarity and reinforcement of terminology integral to the marketing discipline.

In addition to our primary text, we will explore insights from a supplementary book titled : ‘ ‘’Islamic Marketing and Branding: Theory and Practice,Edited by T. C. Melewar and S. F. Syed Alwi’’  that delves into Islamic marketing issues. This inclusion is crucial in recognizing the diverse cultural and religious contexts that shape marketing practices. By addressing topics such as ethical considerations in marketing from an Islamic perspective, we aim to broaden our understanding and foster cultural sensitivity in our marketing endeavours.

It's important to note that our time together is limited to one and a half hours per week. Therefore, our focus on these two carefully selected books is strategic. By honing in on specific texts, we maximize our learning potential and ensure a comprehensive exploration of key marketing principles within the confines of our time constraints.

As we embark on this journey together, I encourage you to actively engage with the material, ask questions, and participate in discussions. By leveraging the resources at our disposal and embracing a collaborative learning environment, we can unlock the doors to marketing mastery and pave the way for future success.

Let's embark on this enriching journey together, as we unravel the complexities of marketing and strive for excellence in our understanding and application of its principles.

Dear students,

As we embark on our journey through this Master's program, I want to emphasize the importance of the resources we'll be utilizing throughout our studies, particularly focusing on the ESP module, which revolves around logistics and supply chain management.

Our  invaluable resources that I want to draw your attention to is these two books titled :‘Supply Chain and Logistics in National, International and Governmental Environment: Concepts and Models edited by : Reza Zanjirani Farahani • Nasrin Asgari Hoda Davarzani

’ and the second resource  ‘SUPPLY CHAIN RISK MANAGEMENT: Vulnerability and Resilience in Logistics edited by Donald Waters’

These books are not only highly regarded within the logistics and supply chain management field, but they are  also incredibly relevant to our studies. their comprehensive coverage and insightful analysis make them a cornerstones for understanding the intricacies of this domain.

Given the time constraints of our sessions - just an hour and a half per week - it becomes even more crucial to focus our attention on a these two  authoritative sources. By concentrating our efforts on these books, we can maximize our learning within the limited time frame. Moreover, this approach allows us to delve deeper into the material, fostering a thorough understanding of the subject matter.

Additionally, the repetitive exposure to technical terms and concepts within these books will aid in memory retention and recall. By encountering these terms consistently throughout our sessions, you'll find yourselves becoming increasingly familiar with them, facilitating seamless comprehension and application in real-world scenarios.

So, as we navigate the complexities of logistics and supply chain management, let's embrace the efficiency and effectiveness of utilizing  the mentioned books as our primary references. Together, we can make the most of our time and resources, ensuring a rich and rewarding learning experience.

Warm regards, your teacher Dr/Nacereddine Bouriche.
