The tutorials of the database module aim to provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of databases. Through practical sessions, students will deepen their knowledge of the relational model, including entities, attributes, relationships, and the use of primary and foreign keys. They will develop proficiency in SQL, learning to write effective queries for creating, manipulating, and retrieving data using commands such as INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, and JOIN.
Students will also learn to design relational schemas based on project specifications or conceptual models such as MERISE or UML. In addition, they will acquire the skills needed to implement databases using popular database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle and to populate them with data.
As part of the learning process, students will be introduced to techniques for analyzing and optimizing queries, with a focus on improving performance through indexing and normalization. Finally, the tutorials emphasize practical problem-solving, encouraging students to apply their knowledge through real-world case studies, step-by-step exercises, and mini-projects designed to consolidate their understanding and build hands-on experience.
