Chemicals can be analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively through a number of different analytical methods, but one big area of analysis is by using spectroscopy. Spectroscopy studies the interaction between electromagnetic radiation and matter, with the interactions giving rise to electronic excitations, molecular vibrations or nuclear spin orientations.
