This handout has been designed to support first-year science students in their study of English 1 (Level A2). Its main objective is to help learners strengthen their basic communication skills in English while gradually developing the language needed for academic and scientific contexts.
At this level, students are expected to understand and use common expressions, communicate in simple and routine situations, and describe experiences related to their studies and everyday life. Therefore, this handout focuses on building essential vocabulary, reinforcing basic grammar structures, and improving reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through clear explanations and practical activities.
Special attention is given to themes and examples connected to science, technology, and university life, in order to make learning more relevant and motivating for science students. The activities included encourage active participation, autonomy, and confidence in using English as a tool for learning and communication.
This handout can be used both in the classroom and for self-study. It is intended to serve as a supportive guide throughout the course, helping students progress step by step toward greater accuracy and fluency in English.
