Course Description
This course is dedicated for L2 (second year LMD) learners of English at Mohamed Khider University of Biskra. Along the first semester, L2 students are exposed to two different types of paragraphs (descriptive and narrative), techniques that would aid them produce such kind of paragraphs, and essential elements and considerations for the attainment of this purpose. Moreover, at this level, students are presented with the major types of sentence errors (run-on sentences, sentence fragments, and comma splices), as well as the most pertinent strategies that would aid them in avoiding such errors when writing in English. In this chapter, students are also required to develop their capacities to fix such writing errors whenever encountered.

Objectives of the Course
1. General Objectives:
By the end of this course, second year students of English will be able to elaborate a well written paragraph by:
- Analyzing various parts and strategies for paragraph writing.
- Identifying the various sentence errors found in academic writing.
- Adapting their writings and producing error-free narrative and descriptive paragraphs.
2. Specific Objectives (Chapter One):
By the end of this chapter, second year students of English will be able to:
- Distinguish between two different types of paragraphs (the narrative and the descriptive paragraphs) and their essential components.
- Plan and organize their strategies for writing the descriptive paragraph and the narrative paragraph in order to improve their paragraph writing techniques for these two types.
3. Specific Objectives (Chapter Two):
By the end of this chapter, second year students of English will be able to:
- Define the types of errors found in academic writing.
- Analyze and modify run-on sentences, comma splices, and sentence fragments.
