This course presents to the students the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), from its origins to its main fields of application. It begins with the history of AI, the types of problems it addresses, and the differences between AI and traditional computational science. Students will also study the Turing Test and major application domains of AI. The second part focuses on expert systems, explaining their definition, role, and architecture. Next, the course explores how expert systems work through knowledge representation, production rules, and inference engines. Finally, it presents the development process of expert systems.
