The aim is to enable the student to understand the fundamental concepts related to electric and magnetic fields. The student learns to identify the sources of these fields, distinguish between vector and scalar fields, and calculate both the electric field and electric potential produced by a charge distribution, as well as the magnetic field generated by an electric current. Through this, the student develops a solid scientific foundation that helps in solving problems and gaining a deeper understanding of physical phenomena.

The acquired knowledge enables students to characterize the behavior of liquid, solid, and gaseous substances and to evaluate their thermodynamic properties under different conditions (temperature, pressure, simple pure substances, ideal mixtures, and during phase changes).
