The course, throughout semestre 1, covers probably the most significant most influential literary event in the late 18th century and into the 19th, that of Romanticism. The objective is to inform students about the history, the background, and the culture of the movement. initially, students are furnished with general and broad lines of Romaticism prior to and after its establishment (for detailed information students are encouraged to engage in autonmous out-of-class research). Then, a selection f relevant and representative texts (poems and novels) are analysed and discussed collectivley in light of the Romantic spirit.
