ESP is a one-semester course for Second-year Master’s students of English. It aims to deepen students’ understanding of English for specific purposes as a trend within English Language Teaching (ELT). The course focuses on expanding students’ knowledge on the major research areas related to the field of ESP. It is a theoretical and conceptual lecture that is based on discussions of assigned readings from different references.


This course is meant as preparation for master dissertations . Its main purpose is to introduce students to qualitative and quantitative research which will help them gain an overview of research methodology, design and analysis of data as well as  the format of a dissertation

This course focuses on the analysis of quantitative data in the fields of Applied Linguistics and TEFL. In addition to reviewing basic concepts in the field of statistics, the course introduces students to the main statistical tests used to determine the existence and strength of a relationship between two or more variables. This includes the statistical tests examining the significance of a difference (e.g. Paired t-test, One-Way-ANOVA …etc) or a relationship (e.g. Pearson correlation, Spearman correlation). The course also includes practical face-to-face and online activities in which the students will practice their knowledge of the different concepts and mastery of the different statistical tests. 

This course presents details about syllabus and curriculum design to Master students of English language classes. It introduces the types of syllabi design and Needs analysis contribution to meet the targeted students’ needs in EFL classes. The course of syllabus design is designed mainly to recognize the main syllabus design components that function interactively to deliver the comprehensive course.
